Help Shape Young Minds

  • Bahamas National Trust Conducting Sixth Annual Camp
  • Since 2008 BHTA and Members Have Helped Sponsor Nearly 200 Bahamian Youth
  • Pledge Form for Cash or Supplies: click here

Thanks to the support of a number of our members, over the past six years nearly 200 Bahamian youth have attended the Bahamas National Trust’s Environmental Youth Camp, a week-long program in Andros made possible with support from the Andros Nature Conservancy and Trust, the Bahamas Hotel & Tourism Association, the Ministry of Tourism’s Coastal Awareness Committee, and the Forfar Field Station.   We wish to especially thank the camp’s past major corporate sponsors:  Atlantis and Kerzner International; the Lyford Cay Club; Lindroth Development (Schooner Bay); Cable Bahamas and Bahamas Ferries.

BNT is targeting to have over 50 youth attend this year’s camp in Andros.  We invite your support.  Fill out this pledge form.  To learn more about the camp and what it’s doing for students, we invite you to take a few minutes to view this brief video

The video shows firsthand the value of the camp experience — creating advocates for environmental stewardship and sustainable living practices, while broadening youth’s knowledge of natural resource management strategies, environmental careers, and the interplay between tourism and the environment.

Any level of contribution or cash or supplies (inventory list attached) no matter how small would be appreciated.  It costs nearly $1,00 per student to attend the camp.  BNT is looking for cash and/or donation of supplies as well as support for complimentary accommodations for one night for those students who are coming from the Family Islands.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact Portia Sweeting at BNT at: 1-242-393-1317/1-242-396-0181.   We hope that you are able to continue to provide a measure of support as we help build on this exciting program.
