Bahamian Hotel Booking Engine Significant To Tourism
The Ministry of Tourism’s plans to develop an electronic booking engine for all Bahamian hotel accommodation have been lauded as “the most significant piece of infrastructure for the tourism sector for a long time”, the minister of tourism and aviation describing it as key to converting “latent demand” for this nation into reality.

Bahamas Culinary Team Excels at Regional Competition
Making it into the elite of the region’s culinary teams, the Bahamas was recognized as one of the top finalists in the region which competed at the Taste of the Caribbean Culinary Classics held at the Rio Mar Wyndham Grand Resort in Puerto Rico.
The team walked away with a gold medal, yielding only to Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago, which edged them out for the top awards. Members of the team came away with individual medals, capturing six awards.

Hotel Industry Is At 60% Of Pre-Recession Revenue Levels
THE Nassau/Paradise Island resort industry is “60 per cent of the way back” to pre-September 2008 levels on revenue generation and occupancies, the Bahamas Hotel Association’s (BHA) president said yesterday, telling Tribune Business he estimated the sector would return to pre-recession numbers by the 2011 second quarter.

Bahamas Hotels Concerned By Tourism Projections
THE Bahamian hotel industry is concerned that current business projections for September and October, the low point of the tourism season, “are fairly flat” against 2009 comparatives, Tribune Business was told last night, although the sector was encouraged by July occupancy levels that almost matched pre-recession figures.
