About Tru Tru Bahamas Festival

The Festival will provide a myriad of experiences for the whole family. The Kids Area will showcase creatures from land and sea, as well as plant life indigenous to our islands. Kids will be able to interact with Bahamian animals, play games and learn about Bahamian traditions long lost to the modern age of electronics. Games from yesteryear such as “Ring Play and Plait the Maypole” will take parents back in time.

For our adults, we will have Tru Tru Bahamian food and drinks, handicrafts and art exhibits, just in time for Christmas. In addition the Festival will feature Bahamian sounds and traditional musical celebrations such as The Royal Bahamas Police Band Performance, Gerald Cash Primary School Rake and Scrape Band, the College of the Bahamas Jams Session Band, Ira Storr and the Spank Bank; and as the Grand Finale, The C.R. Walker Senior High School Junkanoo Parade.

The Tru Tru Movement is a private public sector collaborative effort.  The Bahamas Hotel and Tourism Association has joined forces with industry partners including the Ministry of Tourism, Cable Bahamas (Rev On), John Watling’s Distillery, The Bahamas Out Islands Promotion Board (BOIPB), The Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board (NPIPB), The Paradise Island Tourism Development Association (PITDA), The Pointe, Historical Charles Towne Association and the Downtown Nassau Partnership to promote Authentic Bahamian Experiences, Heritage and Culture. The partnership and support platform also includes stakeholders integral to the formula for success; The Grand Bahama Island Tourism Board (GBITB); The Nassau Airport Development Company (NAD), The Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA),  The Bahamas Hotel Employers Association, Bahamas Hotel Industry Management Pension Fund; The Musicians Union and the Bahamas Musicians Pension Fund, Providence Advisors, Henry Storr Electric Co., Atlantis and The Hilton.
