THE Nassau/Paradise Island resort industry is "60 per cent of the way back" to pre-September 2008 levels on revenue generation and occupancies, the Bahamas Hotel Association's (BHA) president said yesterday, telling Tribune Business he estimated the sector would return to pre-recession numbers by the 2011 second quarter.

THE Bahamian hotel industry is concerned that current business projections for September and October, the low point of the tourism season, "are fairly flat" against 2009 comparatives, Tribune Business was told last night, although the sector was encouraged by July occupancy levels that almost matched pre-recession figures.

The Bahamas Hotel Association, in collaboration with the Ministry, the Bahamas Culinary Association, and the College of The Bahamas, is sponsoring the national culinary team which will represent us at the upcoming Taste of the Caribbean Competition.
Following a successful qualification cook-off on June 19th, a team was selected to vie for recognition as "the best in the Caribbean." The competition is an integral part of the annual Caribbean Hotel Trade Conference (CHTC) to be held at the Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa, Wyndham Grade Resort, Rio Grande, Puerto Rico, September 9 – 12, 2010.
