The southern and central Bahamas are likely to begin to feel the impact of Tropical Storm  beginning late this Thursday as it moves into The Bahamas.  Sandy is presently several hundred miles south of Jamaica and moving in a northerly direction.

It is expected to strengthen to a Category 1 hurricane upon hitting Jamaica and as it moves over Hispaniola will likely downgrade to a tropical storm.  The system bears monitoring, as it is a heavy rainmaker and moving at a slow pace.

Further details will be made available.
